What Is Botox And What’s The Treatment Like?

Botox is an injectable muscle relaxer that helps to reduce wrinkles. You can expect your Botox procedure to only take a few minutes. In fact, many repeat clients schedule their Botox treatments during their lunch break for a quick fix before they have to return to work.

How Should I Prep For My Botox Treatment?

Please remove makeup prior to coming in for your appointment.

Avoid caffeine day-of Botox appointment.

Avoid all blood-thinning medications, EXCEPT those prescribed by your physician, for 1 week prior to your appointment. This will reduce the chances of excessive bruising with your injections. Some examples include: Advil, Aleve, Aspirin, Excedrin or Ibuprofen, Fish oils, Garlic, Ginger, Ginkgo, Turmeric, Vitamin E.

We also recommend refraining from the use of alcohol for 24 hours prior to the treatment.

Taking arnica tablets beginning 3 days prior to your injections may help minimize bruising.

Eat pineapple for a few days! Pineapple contains the enzyme bromelain, which may decrease swelling and inflammation.

What Should I Expect Post Botox Treatment?

On the day of injections, please refrain from exercise for 4 hours post Botox.

DO NOT lay flat for 4 hours post Botox. Avoid sleeping on your face for 4-7 nights.  Back sleeping is recommended.

It is recommended to not apply makeup for 24 hours post injections due to the risk of infection.

Drink plenty of water on your injection day.

Do not consume alcohol 24 hours post injection.

Avoid caffeine 24 hours post Botox injection.

First time patients will follow up 2 weeks post procedure.

Repeat patients will follow up 2 weeks post procedure, if recommended.

How Long Will My Botox Results Last?

Every patient is different; however, you can generally expect your Botox treatment to last anywhere from three to six months.

Dermal Fillers

What are facial dermal fillers?

During the aging process, your face naturally loses some fat. Add in the sagging of skin as it loses collagen and you get more visible fine lines and wrinkles. Heredity also plays a role in the loss of volume in certain areas of your face. More than 1 million men and women annually choose dermal fillers to rejuvenate their skin and get a more youthful appearance. Facial dermal fillers are FDA-approved injections that enhance collagen production in your body and:

  • Restore lost volume in cheeks or lips

  • Enhance facial contours

  • Soften creases

  • Smooth fine lines, wrinkles, and skin folds

  • Correct areas of your chin, jawline, or nose

  • Lessen the appearance of recessed scars

  • Remove or decrease shadows on lower lids

Facial dermal fillers correct the areas of your face that bother you. There are a variety of dermal fillers that I may recommend for you, including:

  • Juvéderm Volux XC®

  • Juvéderm Voluma XC®

  • Juvéderm Ultra XC®

  • Juvéderm Ultra Plus XC®

  • Juvéderm Vollure XC®

  • Juvéderm Volbella XC®

I help determine which facial filler best matches your individualized needs and educate you as to why certain products or procedures optimize anti-aging results.

What Should I Expect During a Dermal Filler Treatment?

During your dermal filler procedure, I clean and may numb the area to reduce discomfort associated with injections. I then inject the filler beneath your skin to improve its appearance. Injections take just minutes, and you'll notice results immediately afterward.

Receiving dermal filler injections is a quick procedure, and you can resume day-to-day activities right away with little to no downtime.

These fillers should last from six months to two years.

What are The Side Effects Of Dermal Filler?

Side effects from facial fillers should subside within a few days.
